Nick Aldis says current champion has to relinquish WWE championship due to another star's injury; replacement announced on SmackDown
Nick Aldis confronted a champion on WWE SmackDown this week and let her know that she will have to relinquish her title. With another star injured, he said that he didn't see any choice but for her to step down as the champion. However, the situation ended with him hesitating, as a replacement stepped up.
Jade Cargill's injury has left Bianca Belair without a tag team partner, despite being the Women's Tag Team Champion. As a result, with Cargill still absent, she's been unable to defend the title. However, Naomi appears set to replace Jade Cargill.
Aldis approached Belair this week letting her know that the investigation was still ongoing, but they were no closer to finding out the responsible party. However, he went on to say that with Cargill not back yet, he had no choice but to strip Belair of the title. He said that she had to relinquish it.
However, Naomi stepped up and said that she was going to step in for Cargill and that Belair didn't have to relinquish anything. This left Nick Aldis hesitating, but he said that he would have to get approval from the top. He stepped away, not making Belair give up the title after all.
Nick Aldis also demanded they be fighting champions and defend the title as soon as next week.
