In case you didn’t know...
Nikki Bella (real name Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace) is a 2-time WWE Divas Champion who most recently teamed up with John Cena to defeat The Miz and Maryse in a mixed-gender tag-team matchup at Wrestlemania 33.
After the match, Cena, who she has been dating for about 5 years, proposed her in front of the sold-out crowd in Orlando, Florida to which she said yes.

The Cena-Nikki engagement has since got mainstream media attention with several Hollywood news outlets covering the story. Furthermore, ‘Fearless’ Nikki has also been promoting her aforementioned E! reality series that resumed airing this April 5th.
The heart of the matter:
In a Total Divas promotional interview on CBS, Bella spoke on multiple topics ranging from her Wrestlemania 33 engagement to John Cena, becoming the Executive Producer of Total Divas, women empowerment as well as her desire to make a comeback with her sister Brie Bella.
This is what she had to say about the rumours about her retirement:
“There was a lot of speculation that I was retiring, but WWE is my home. I’m a lifer. John likes to say that and me too. I am WWE for life. I don’t ever want to retire.
I need to take some time for healing, but that’s why I will never say the word ‘retirement’, because you will see me back in the ring. And I hope the day you see me back in the ring is with my twin sister.”
She also spoke about her engagement with John Cena, and was quoted as saying:
“Every time I get to relive that footage I just get teary-eyed, because what he (John Cena) said, how he did it. I don’t know, I’m so lucky. I’m just so happy.”
Bella also spoke about her new backstage role in the show, emphasising that it’s not merely about the on-screen drama but also about doing good things. She stated her wish to show the fans how hard the women in WWE work and how inspiring, motivating and empowering they can be.
What’s next?
Nikki Bella is currently on hiatus in order to rehabilitate a few nagging injuries. Although she won’t be competing as an in-ring performer in WWE, she will appear on the WWE-based reality show Total Divas.
Author’s take:
All things apart, my hat is off to Ms Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace. For those of you who haven’t followed her career from the beginning, you’ll be shell-shocked to see some of her earlier performances.
In other words, Nikki Bella has come a long way from being just a pretty face and has ascended to the level of a genuinely capable pro-wrestling competitor.
Now, by no means am I saying that she’s on the skill-level of say someone like Charlotte, but considering the way her career started, Bella may very well be one of the most improved performers in the WWE today.
As far as her refusal to use the ‘Retirement’ word is concerned, she has every right to take her time, reassess the situation and then decide whether or not she’d like to return. We, as fans, have got nothing but respect for the WWE lifer.
