"Nobody even knew" - Rob Van Dam discloses a major secret he hid from WWE management for years
WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has revealed that he hid something from the company for several years while performing in the ring. He never blamed anyone for his actions and took full responsibility.
Mr. Monday Night appeared on NXT last week and got physical during the show. He had a successful run in ECW and joined WWE after the promotion went out of business, where he also achieved success. During his career, RVD has also competed for other major promotions, such as TNA and AEW.
During a recent appearance on Wrestling Life, Rob Van Dam admitted that when he suffered a concussion in WWE, he didn't tell anyone. He clarified that he never blamed anyone for it and was never forced to work while injured.
"I never blamed anybody but myself. There's been some lawsuits and a lot of lay people like to just assume that whatever they hear gossip-wise, especially if it's something bad against the powers that be, they just want to automatically believe it. But I never got forced to work when I was already hurt. I don’t have any horror stories like that. I never even told anybody when I had a concussion, except for maybe two times I can remember—one right now, but I think there was another one," said Rob Van Dam.
RVD added:
"I think I've only had a doctor actually diagnose me maybe twice; once was in TNA. I can't remember when the other one was—maybe I lost my memory on that. But it was completely me, my responsibility, that was my choice to go in that very physical direction to artistically express myself and showcase my talents. And so they didn't even know; nobody even knew." [17:45-18:55]
When was Rob Van Dam's last match in WWE?
Even though The Whole F'N Show has made several appearances in WWE over the years, his last match in the company took place 10 years ago.
He wrestled Seth Rollins on an episode of SmackDown in August 2014, which was won by The Visionary.
The two stars faced each other on Main Event a few days prior, and fans never saw Rob Van Dam have another match in WWE since that year. Rob Van Dam was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.
