"Now he gets scr*wed out of the World Championship" - Wrestling veteran slams WWE for erratic booking with Cody Rhodes (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo is not happy with the way Cody Rhodes' is being booked on RAW.
Rhodes was in the running for the World Heavyweight Championship when he competed in a Triple Threat match against Finn Balor and The Miz this week on RAW. However, an irate Brock Lesnar appeared from nowhere and attacked The American Nightmare, destroying his chance to compete for the World Heavyweight Title.
This week on Legion of RAW, Russo drew parallels between the Rocky movie and Rhodes' career trajectory. He felt that WWE was trying to build up The American Nightmare with adversity, but then, the win over Lesnar at Backlash did not fit the narrative.
"This is why a very young Sylvester Stallone was so brilliant and he got it. Rocky didn't go over bro. [...] This is what's weird about them. They're kinda trying to tell the same story with Cody. Didn't get the job done against Roman Reigns, just fell short. Now he gets scr*wed out of the World Championship. But in between those two things, he beats Brock Lesnar. That's not how it works, bro." [5:55 - 6:47]

Cody Rhodes will face Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions
This week's show was kicked off by Cody Rhodes. The second-generation superstar spoke about his triumphant outing in Puerto Rico against The Beast Incarnate.
Rhodes then turned his attention toward the World Heavyweight Title and claimed that he would be the new champion. However, this did not happen as Brock Lesnar demolished him with successive F5s at ringside and challenged him to a match at Night of Champions.
Later, in a backstage segment, Rhodes accepted the challenge, making the match official for the upcoming premium live event from Saudi Arabia on May 27.
