Oba Femi interrupts former WWE champion; teases massive dream match

Oba Femi was seen interrupting a former WWE champion on this week’s episode of NXT. The former champ, who was dethroned just a few moments prior on the show, was sharing his thoughts on the loss. However, the NXT North American Champion didn’t allow him to finish his words as he announced his upcoming dream title defense.

Tony D’Angelo fought Charlie Dempsey for the NXT Heritage Cup. The No Quarter Catch Crew leader received help from Wren Sinclair at a critical juncture. Taking advantage of this, Dempsey reclaimed the cup from The Don, who had defeated him for the same back in May 2024. Tony D was later seen backstage with his family, but his promo was cut short by Oba Femi who announced that he would defend his title against Otis.

This was a tit-for-tat move by the NXT North American Champion. After all, The Don had interrupted Femi the same way last week to announce this week’s Heritage Cup match. Later, Oba Femi entered the arena to fight Otis, who had accepted his open challenge following this week’s WWE RAW.

Femi, who stands at 310 pounds, clashed with the 330-pounder Otis for the NXT North American Title. Both stars showcased a very physical match and constantly shifted the momentum in their favor.

Eventually, The Alpha Academy member lost the match as Femi retained his prestigious gold. It would be interesting to see which pro wrestler would stand up to Femi’s dominance the next time he puts his title on the line.
