"Odd" situation happens as Braun Strowman beats 4-time champion after SmackDown goes off the air
Something odd occurred with Braun Strowman in the post-SmackDown dark match. After the show went off the air, he picked up a win, but it was under unusual circumstances.
SmackDown ended this week with the WWE Tag Team Championship in the grasp of The Bloodline. This marks the first time in 16 months that they have the tag team gold again. Usually, dark matches take place to send the crowd home happy with a big babyface win, which in this case, was a role handed to Braun Strowman.
However, what happened was a bit odd. Braun Strowman took on four-time Tag Team Champion Chad Gable. Considering the size difference, fans would think that it would be a straightforward tag team match. However, Sportskeeda's Dr. Chris Featherstone, who happened to be in the arena, reported on X/Twitter that the match was booked in an "odd" way.
Despite the clear size difference, Strowman was seemingly coming from behind for most of the match. This is usually a trick reserved for smaller-sized babyfaces and not giants like Strowman.
It's indeed an unusual way to book the match, especially considering how hated Chad Gable is by the WWE Universe for his recent heel character work, the logical direction would be to have Gable make a few stall moments before getting completely obliterated.
But that's not what happened.
Perhaps it was WWE trying to test the waters with something different, maybe to give Gable a positive showcase.
