Omos reveals why he refused to face 6'4" WWE Superstar after getting called out by him
WWE Superstar Omos recently revealed why he refused to face a popular star after getting called out by him for a match. The 6'4" star in question is former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi.
Omos signed with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2019 and quickly became famous among fans because of his stature. In 2020, he teamed up with AJ Styles and the duo went on to win the RAW Tag Team Championship. However, the 30-year-old star has only wrestled a few matches this year with his latest bout coming on the April 5, 2024 edition of SmackDown, where he participated in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Meanwhile, Oba Femi has been tearing it up on the company's developmental brand, where he became the longest-reigning North American Champion.
During a recent edition of The Undertaker's Six Feet Under podcast, Omos revealed that he visited the Performance Center every week and was once called out by Oba Femi to a match.
The former RAW Tag Team Champion also mentioned that he refused Femi's proposal because he believed their clash should come at a later time in their careers which might be more fruitful for the fans.
"I'm [at the Performance Center] every week. The other kid that's down there right now, he kind of called me out and I told him, 'Not time yet,' Oba Femi. I was like, 'In due time, brother. We're going to square off. Patience.' I'm learning from [The Undertaker]. He taught me this, you got to think about long-term business. If you give the fans this match now, five years down the line it doesn't mean anything anymore. They've seen it already. But if we waited three or four years, then we give you the match, there's something there. But you want them to clamor for it even more before," he said. [H/T: Fightful]
The Undertaker was full of praise for WWE Superstar Omos
During the same podcast, The Undertaker said that Omos was one of his favorite people in WWE at the moment. The Phenom even compared the 30-year-old to WWE legend Kane before saying that he was excited to see the former RAW Tag Team Champion's future in wrestling.
"I'm so happy you're here because you honestly are one of my favorite people in WWE at the moment. He has so many qualities. He [Omos] is very Kane-like, only bigger which is insane to think about how big Kane is. But, as a human being, just an unbelievable human being, and only begin[ning] to scratch the surface, I think of what you're going to do with WWE," he said.
It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for Omos' future.
