One major reason may prevent WWE from having Kevin Owens end Cody Rhodes' title run, says veteran
Cody Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since WrestleMania 40. Wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. recently suggested The American Nightmare would retain his title tonight at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Since Bad Blood, Rhodes has been involved in a heated feud with his former friend Kevin Owens. The Prizefighter will now face The American Nightmare for the Undisputed WWE Championship tonight at Saturday Night's Main Event. Speaking on the Straight Talk with The Boss podcast, Magnum T.A. claimed the company could tell an amazing story by having Owens end Rhodes' title reign.
However, the former NWA United States Heavyweight Champion pointed out that Rhodes would probably retain his title due to his merchandise sales.
"Oh, you could tell an amazing story that way [Owens beating Rhodes], you know. Are the merchandising people gonna let that happen? Probably not. You know, I mean, it's all, at the end of the day, about, you know, money," he said. [From 37:57 - 38:12]
WWE Hall of Famer would not be surprised if Kevin Owens beats Cody Rhodes
On his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. discussed the upcoming square-off between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night's Main Event.
The current NXT color commentator disclosed that he would not be surprised if The Prizefighter ended The American Nightmare's championship reign tonight at Nassau Coliseum.
"I wouldn't be surprised with anything right now because the business is so hot, and there are so many guys that has [sic] the rocket on their back right now, you could pretty much put it on a plethora of guys and I think we'll get the same result right now," Booker explained. "I really believe that. So if it happens, hey man, I'm gonna be all in for Kevin Owens because that dude has put in his time, he's paid his da*n dues (...) to see Kevin Owens actually cash in, it'll be great man." It would be interesting to see if Owens would succeed in capturing his second world championship at Saturday Night's Main Event.
