Pat McAfee questions heartbreaking New Day betrayal on RAW; legendary 21-time WWE champion responds: "Excess baggage"

The New Day betrayed Big E on WWE RAW, prompting Pat McAfee to question their actions. A former champion has now responded to him.

The Miz is the latest to weigh in on Kofi Kingston's and Xavier Woods' recent actions. The New Day was formed 10 years ago, and in these years, they have grown to become a legendary faction. However, in recent weeks, Kofi and Woods have struggled to get on the same page. They reached their breaking point on the November 25 episode of RAW, where they vented their frustrations with each other.

This week on RAW, they celebrated their 10th anniversary, and on that same night, the duo teased that they would be breaking up. However, Big E came out to motivate them and offered to be their manager. Kofi and Woods asked him where he had been when they needed him the most, and they didn't need him anymore, seemingly kicking him out of the group.

On The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee was on a video call with The Miz when he questioned why The A-Lister didn't talk some sense into The New Day. The Miz responded that he was glad Woods and Kingston got rid of the "excess baggage" in Big E.

"I'm glad they did that. We need to celebrate the fact that Kofi and Xavier are coming to terms with who they are and what they need to do to succeed in WWE and it's get rid of the excess baggage which is Big E," Miz said. [0:24 - 0:39]

Miz is a 21-time champion, having won the WWE Championship twice, the Intercontinental Title eight times, and the United States Championship five times, and has nine reigns with various tag team titles.

Tommy Dreamer also commented on The New Day's segment

Based on their actions on WWE RAW, The New Day is now a heel tag team, which came as a bit of a surprise to fans since only Xavier Woods had been teasing a potential heel turn in recent weeks due to his actions. Many fans and critics were quick to give their thoughts on the shocking segment.

Speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Tommy Dreamer said that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods must win every match now that they have turned heel.

"They were teflon babyfaces. A teflon babyface is so key because they can lose, continue to lose, and continue to help get your next generation of talents to that level, but at any moment, be your tag team champions of the world. But for this route, the heel route, they got to win everything. They got to continue to just go to the top and they have to be d***s. They have to be a*******."

It will be interesting to see whether New Day can finally get back to winning ways with this newfound attitude.
