Paul Heyman allegedly wanted Shane McMahon to use former WWE Champion's popular move

Paul Heyman allegedly asked Shane McMahon to use Rob Van Dam's popular move.

Rob Van Dam was incredibly popular among fans back when the original ECW was alive and well. He was one of the few who managed to make it big in WWE as well.

RVD recently appeared on Ten Count and had a chat with Steve Fall. The former WWE Champion was asked about Shane McMahon using the Van Terminator at WrestleMania 17. He made it clear that he wasn't happy with McMahon using the move.

The WWE Hall of Famer said that many people didn't get to see him perform the move first as ECW didn't have a strong viewership like WWE. He then revealed an interesting bit of information about Paul Heyman that someone shared with him:

"I thought, 'Man! everyone's gonna think that he invented that!' And besides that, it was just something you just had to eat it, just swallow it and be like. 'Well, what am I gonna do? Get angry?' But I learned that Heyman gave it to him. Heyman showed him a video of me and said, 'You think you can do this?'" [3:00-3:22]

Rob Van Dam has massive respect for Paul Heyman

Despite Paul Heyman offering RVD's move to Shane McMahon, the former WWE Champion doesn't hold a grudge against the veteran. The ECW World Champion made a name for himself while working for Heyman in ECW in the late 90s. His work in the promotion put him on the map and eventually helped him score a WWE deal.

Back in 2014, RVD had a chat with Bill Apter and shared his honest thoughts on Heyman:

"Paul reached a level he deserves in this business. It's nice to see the respect given back and to see Paul where he's at right now. He's no longer in a place where people are trying to bury him and trying to put him out of business. Now they look at him with appreciation like he is of wrestling royalty because he is. I see him pulling some of the younger guys aside backstage, giving his advice to them. It makes me feel happy inside to know he's passing that along." [H/T WrestlingInc]

Paul Heyman currently works as an on-screen character on WWE TV. He is the special counsel of WWE's top champion Roman Reigns. Paul has been the backbone of Reigns' Bloodline for about three years now and it doesn't look like the alliance will end anytime soon.
