WWE News: Paul Heyman explains how he orchestrated the Brock Lesnar-Goldberg match

Paul Heyman has been instrumental in Lesnar’s meteoric rise to the top of the WWE

Paul Heyman may be well on his way to becoming the greatest manager of all time. His scheming ways have paved the road for Lesnar’s current domination in the WWE.

The Beast’s advocate recently spoke to Sporting News discussing revealing how he set up the fantasy warfare clash between Lesnar and Goldberg, he also spoke about his poor promo a couple of weeks ago, Lesnar’s future opponents and more.

Heyman claimed during the interview that it was his plan all along to make Lesnar vs. Goldberg happen. He said that he had manipulated the match into being booked so that Lesnar could finally score a win over Goldberg.

He recalled receiving a call from 2K Sports when he was sitting in his office with Brock,  asking for the name of a superstar to be the face of the pre-order for WWE 2K17.

Heyman, who owns the Looking 4 Larry marketing company that has been handling the marketing and promotion for WWE 2K17, quickly consulted Lesnar and confirmed that the pre-order bonus should be Goldberg.

Heyman revealed that once Goldberg was announced as the pre-order bonus character, it was his plan to trash talk Goldberg and force him to return to the WWE. Luckily for him, Goldberg took the bait and the epic clash was set up for Survivor Series this Sunday where Heyman claims that the ‘Beast Incarnate’ will maul Goldberg.

Here’s a video of Paul Heyman issuing Brock Lesnar’s challenge to Goldberg on Raw:

Heyman also shed light on the promo at Minneapolis where despite his best attempts, the crowd still chanted in favour of Lesnar instead of Goldberg.

Heyman felt that it was a booking mistake to expect the crowd to chant for Goldberg in Lesnar’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was a rare bad promo by Heyman where chants of “Goldberg Sucks’ were heard and Vince McMahon had to end the segment prematurely.

Heyman also revealed his plans for Lesnar’s future opponents. He said that if the match with Goldberg didn’t pan out then he would have Lesnar take on the entire SmackDown roster in the main event of Survivor Series.

In fact, Heyman went on to boast that Lesnar could even take on the RAW roster at next year’s Survivor Series just so they didn’t feel jealous of their SmackDown counterparts.

According to Heyman, booking Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania 33 should be the easiest thing for WWE creative. He made it clear that Brock had plans to headline WrestleMania again as the defending WWE Universal Champion or as a challenger for the title, irrespective of who the champion is at that time.
