Paul Heyman names WWE stars he'd use to rival legendary SmackDown Six
WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman is widely known for creating magic in pro wrestling. The former ECW boss has made history in several companies and is now revealing the current superstars he'd use to rival a legendary period in SmackDown history.
The Wiseman has cultivated some of the greatest wrestling stars, from The Dangerous Alliance to the ECW Originals, to Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Heyman ran SmackDown Creative in 2002 during WWE's first brand extension, and centered the early days around the SmackDown Six: Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, and Eddie Guerrero.
Heyman believes he could use current superstars to re-capture the same magic that the SmackDown Six did during their heyday. Speaking to Newsweek's Jeremy Hanna, the 46-year industry veteran praised the depth of the current roster and said he could create 4 or 5 rosters that would rival what he built in 2002.
"Every member of The Bloodline. Every member of Solo's Bloodline, obviously, because there's a lot of money to be made there. Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Bron Breakker, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Dominik Mysterio, Austin Theory," Paul Heyman said. [23:59 - 24:21]
Heyman said he'd use Pat McAfee as an energetic commentator and could build a promotion around Logan Paul or LA Knight. He also named Dominik Mysterio and said Charlotte Flair is right on the cusp of being a legend with so much left to accomplish. He also praised Bronson Reed and Jacob Fatu for stepping up in recent weeks.
Paul Heyman reacts to Roman Reigns' WWE SmackDown return
Paul Heyman has not been seen since he was attacked by Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline crew on SmackDown a few weeks back. However, The Wiseman is expected to return soon now that Roman Reigns is back.
The Original Tribal Chief made his long-awaited return at SummerSlam to help Cody Rhodes retain the Undisputed WWE Championship over Solo. Reigns then returned to SmackDown and took out Solo, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa.
Heyman still has not publicly discussed Roman's return, but he did take to Instagram Stories after SmackDown to declare that The OTC, or The Original Tribal Chief, was back.
Reigns vs. Sikoa in singles action is rumored to take place soon. Reigns is booked for this Friday's WWE SmackDown as well.
