Pete Dunne names WWE star "hater of the year" ahead of SmackDown

Pete Dunne named a popular WWE star the "hater of the year" today on social media. The veteran appeared during the final moments of NXT No Mercy last weekend to attack Trick Williams.

The rivalry between Trick Williams and Pete Dunne has gotten personal as of late. Williams released a diss track following the attack by the former Brawling Brutes member at the Premium Live Event over the weekend. Dunne took to social media today to target another star.

He reacted to a fan naming him, Drew McIntyre, and AEW star Hangman Page as the biggest haters of the year. Dunne responded by claiming backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond was the biggest hater, as seen in his post below.

The Bruiserweight will be facing Braun Strowman, Ilja Dragunov, and Jey Uso in a Fatal 4-Way match next Monday night on WWE RAW. The winner of the match will earn an Intercontinental Championship match against Bron Breakker.

WWE star compares Pete Dunne to AEW's Bryan Danielson

RAW star Sheamus recently compared Pete Dunne to AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson and noted that they have similar creative minds.

Bryan Danielson, formerly known as Daniel Bryan in WWE, defeated Swerve Strickland to capture the AEW World Championship at All In 2024. In a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, The Celtic Warrior noted that his matches against Danielson helped him early on in his career and stated that Dunne has a similar aggressive style in the ring.

"One of the things that set me off in my career, after I had gone through John Cena, Randy and Hunter, and all that, I went in with Daniel Bryan. Bryan Danielson. It was great. And I see the same traits in Pete Dunne because he's got a great creative mind, but he's also aggressive. He just needs to let go, and he let go on Monday night. It was awesome," Sheamus said. Sheamus and Dunne were both formerly a part of The Brawling Brutes faction in WWE. However, Dunne has turned on his former mentor and recently blamed the 46-year-old for giving him the "Butch" nickname.
