Photo: CM Punk reunites with AEW stars ahead of WWE SummerSlam
WWE SummerSlam is set to feature CM Punk's first big televised singles match since making his surprise return to the company last November. The multi-time champion was let go by AEW last year but remains close with top stars on the roster.
The Second City Saint wrestled his first match since 2014 at AEW All Out 2021, where he defeated Darby Allin in just under 17 minutes. He would go on to praise Allin, then team up on three occasions. Punk shared the AEW ring once with The House of Black. August 12, 2023 edition of Collision saw the Chicago native and FTR come up short against then-World Trios Champions Brody King, Malakai Black, and Buddy Matthews.
Punk has been sharing photo dumps to Instagram, and his latest collection came today, featuring photos from late July. Many stars from the wrestling industry can be seen in the dumps, including Jesse Ventura, who was present on this week's RAW. Brooks Jensen, Josh Briggs, Ivar, Indi Hartwell, Cora Jade, and Roxanne Perez among others are also featured in the post. However, the most talked about picture was The Second City Saint with AEW's Brody King and Darby Allin.
The photo with Big Bad and The Invisible Man was taken backstage at a God's Hate concert on July 12 in Los Angeles. King has been the lead vocalist of the hardcore punk band around 2014. Punk attended the concert at The Belasco Theater that night.
Punk's dog Larry was also featured on the latest July dump. The former AEW star is currently feuding with Drew McIntyre on RAW. The rivalry has become more intense in recent weeks after McIntyre attacked the Second City Saint on SmackDown and took away a bracelet with him that has Punk's wife, AJ Lee, and his dog's name on it.
The former WWE Champion is set to lock up with Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam this Saturday, with Seth Rollins serving as the Special Guest Referee.
CM Punk's dog Larry makes WWE history
Larry The Dog is no stranger to pro wrestling fans. The beloved canine made history this week as the first pet to have its own merchandise from World Wrestling Entertainment.
WWE Shop has released two t-shirts for Larry. The Punk & Larry BITW ringer tee and the Punk & Larry It's Slobbering Time tee are both priced at $32.99 and are listed as Special Event items that will ship no later than Monday, August 12. Punk issued a touching statement on the merchandise.
WWE described Larry as The Best Boy In The World in promoting the new shirts. The ringer is a take on Punk's classic logo, while the standard t-shirt is stylized like a vintage horror movie poster.
