Popular RAW faction was "going to be reunited" in the Triple H era before WWE went in a "different direction"
Triple H has driven WWE to new heights with a renewed vision and energy since taking over the creative reins. A former superstar recently revealed that a popular RAW faction was penned to return before the company changed its mind. The superstar mentioned here is MVP.
The Hurt Business became a top faction in WWE following MVP’s pairing with Bobby Lashley in 2020. They recruited Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander to the faction to give both men a new lease on their careers.
The faction had a good run and The All-Mighty became a two-time WWE Champion, thanks to the response the faction and its members received. However, they were soon disbanded without any good creative direction by the company.
MVP recently opened up about the decision to bring back the faction during the Triple H era in a chat at the K&S WrestleFest virtual signing. He noted that plans were in store for the reunion and T-shirts were even printed for the same, but Triple H and his men went completely in a different direction later.
"We were told we were going to be reunited. I still have a shirt. The shirts were made. 'Hurt Business' on the front. 'Back in business' on the back. They were made. We were told that it was going to happen. Next thing I see, Bobby is with The Street Profits. 'What happened here?' I get a call from Bruce (Prichard), 'Somebody should have called you, sorry. We decided we're going in a different direction,'" MVP said.
He noted that it was unprofessional of Triple H’s management to change plans completely and put Bobby Lashley in a faction with The Street Profits that ended up heading nowhere.
"Needless to say, I was very salty about that. We had Bobby going from a two-time WWE Champion to not being in the conversation or in the title picture at all. Got put with The Street Profits [Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins], who were white hot, and they got cooled off. The Street Profits went from being major figures to sitting in catering. I don't know why. I don't understand it, but I don't make decisions in that way." [H/T - Fightful]
Many fans were in favor of seeing The Hurt Business unite. While a reunion was teased often by the creative team, the plan never materialized and three of the four members left the company subsequently.
WWE CCO Triple H gave Bobby Lashley a lackluster run with The Street Profits
Triple H paired Bobby Lashley with The Street Profits on SmackDown before B-Fab joined the trio. The faction did well at first, but mixed bookings and unclear direction hurt its credibility.
Soon after, Lashley’s new faction became an afterthought in WWE. The faction that was formed in July 2023 did little and faded away before Bobby Lashley and MVP departed WWE in the summer of 2024.
The Street Profits are trying to get back on its feet with a feud against The Bloodline. However, it will take some time for Triple H to rebuild the tag team to gain the same momentum it once had after its main roster move from NXT.
