Popular WWE Hall of Famer set to be in town for SummerSlam

The 2024 edition of WWE SummerSlam airs live this Saturday from Cleveland Browns Stadium. Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson recently revealed that she will be in town during the weekend.

The 49-year-old was among the most popular female performers during The Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. Wilson announced her retirement from professional wrestling in May 2008 following her WWE release. She made a few sporadic appearances in the following years before her induction into the Hall of Fame in 2019.

Torrie Wilson appeared on WWE television earlier this year during the Draft. She and Michelle McCool announced the second-round draft picks. Ahead of SummerSlam weekend, Wilson took to Instagram Stories to inform her followers that she will be at the Cleveland WrestleCon this Friday and Saturday.

Torrie Wilson reveals why she did not watch WWE for years after leaving

Female wrestling back in the day in WWE was very different from what we have currently. Earlier this year, Torrie Wilson revealed some of her work in the Stamford-based company affected her so much that she did not watch any wrestling for years following her departure.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the Hall of Famer claimed being put into certain vulnerable situations during her time in WWE gave her PTSD. Wilson added that she did not watch any wrestling until her participation in the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble Match in 2018.

"I didn’t watch wrestling. I didn’t want anything to do with wrestling for many years after I left, mostly because I just had a certain amount of PTSD from being so vulnerable out there and feeling like I was put in this kind of, like, this raunchy role that wasn’t me. I felt judgment from people. I felt like people looked down on me for like, just stuff that I did, the bra and panty matches and all that, so like, I just wanted to shut that door. For many years, I didn't watch. It wasn't until they called me to do the Royal Rumble [2018’s first ever Women’s Rumble match] that I started to kind of catch up, and then I got really into it, like more into it than I ever was when I was wrestling," she said.

With Torrie Wilson set to be in Cleveland this weekend, it remains to be seen if she will appear on the show.
