Popular WWE star breaks character to send heartwarming message

A popular WWE star and former champion broke character today on social media to send a heartfelt message to a wrestling fan ahead of SmackDown. The promotion is currently on the road to WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia next month.

A wrestling fan shared an illustration of Piper Niven on social media today, and the former Women's Tag Team Champion reacted with a heartwarming message. The fan noted that they loved Niven's personality, which inspired them to draw her. The SmackDown star reacted by sending love back to the fan, as seen in her post below.

"All the love right back at ya! 🥰🫶🏻," she wrote.

Chelsea Green captured the Women's Tag Team Championship with Sonya Deville last year, but the Pure Fusion Collective star went down with a torn ACL shortly after winning the titles.

Niven replaced Deville as Green's tag team partner, and the duo had an impressive reign as champions before losing the titles in December 2023.

Vince Russo urges WWE to push Piper Niven on SmackDown

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo recently took the promotion to task for not featuring Piper Niven enough on WWE SmackDown.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown show on Backstage Pass, Russo questioned the company's booking of Niven following her loss to Lash Legend on last Friday night's edition of the blue brand. The legend wondered why the promotion had the 33-year-old losing so many matches and noted that Niven has an entertaining personality that the company was not capitalizing on.

"I don't know what Piper Niven jobs to everybody. I have no idea. I wish I was writing for Piper Niven. With what they've given her, you can see personality there. This girl has personality; you gotta feed her. You gotta give her material. This is the biggest issue I have with that." [From 26:50 onwards]

Niven competed in the Mae Young Classic in 2017 but was defeated by former AEW Women's Champion Toni Storm in the quarterfinals. She was formerly known as Doudrop on the main roster but returned as Piper Niven during the Women's Royal Rumble Match in 2023. The veteran is a former two-time 24/7 Champion but has never won a major singles title during her time in WWE.
