Popular WWE star on learning new moves from Malakai Black and Rey Mysterio
WWE and AEW are the two biggest pro wrestling companies in the modern era. Their locker rooms feature some of the most talented in-ring workers in the history of the sport, and some wrestlers are lucky to train with wrestlers from both companies. One veteran talent has just revealed an assist from both Malakai Black and Rey Mysterio.
Zelina Vega began wrestling in 2010 and has held championship gold in WWE and TNA. Currently on WWE's RAW brand, the 33-year-old tied the knot with AEW's Malakai Black in 2018 after dating for a year or two. Vega has been a member of the LWO faction since Mysterio revived the group in March 2023. She has teamed with the WWE Hall of Famer on four occasions.
La Muñeca recently spoke with Busted Open and recalled how she had to improve her in-ring skills when she moved away from managing to an in-ring competitor in WWE. Her husband, formerly known as Aleister Black in WWE, was her biggest help through the transition.
"He's really good at breaking down every single thing. I need somebody who's going to be extremely raw with me and tell me, 'This is what you're doing right, this what you're doing wrong.' Having time with him has helped so so much," Zelina Vega said.
Vega has debuted some new moves on RAW as of late but promises these are just 'the tip of the iceberg' of what she and Black have been working on. She also credited The Biggest Little Man for his in-ring help, especially with learning his 619 finisher.
"I didn't want to do the 619 [because she wanted to learn it long before bringing it to TV]. He [Rey] spent time with me on the live events, he spent time with before the shows. I've just been wanting to show people what I can actually do now," Zelina Vega said. [H/T - WrestlingInc]
Mysterio and Vega last teamed up on the July 8 edition of WWE RAW. They were defeated by Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan in the RAW main event that night.
Zelina Vega's 2024 WWE TV losing streak continues
Zelina Vega has wrestled 14 matches in 2024 so far, and six of those were at non-televised events. Vega has been on the losing end of all eight televised matches.
Vega's televised losses in 2024 include the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber qualifier with Tiffany Stratton, the Chamber Last Chance Battle Royal, and a WrestleMania Weekend SmackDown match against Elektra Lopez.
Following WrestleMania, the losses continued with the Money in the Bank Triple Threat qualifier, a Women's World Championship shot against Liv Morgan, the mixed team loss with Rey Mysterio against Liv and Dominik Mysterio, and finally last week's match against Sonya Deville.
Vega's last televised win came on December 15 as she teamed with Michin, Shotzi, and Bianca Belair to defeat Damage CTRL in SmackDown's Holiday Havoc match. Her last televised singles win was against IYO SKY on August 4 last year.
