Popular WWE star set for first match since leaving The Alpha Academy

A current WWE champion and a fan-favorite superstar are set to clash soon for the fourth time, but this match will have potential championship implications. For one fan-favorite, this will be their first match since leaving Alpha Academy on RAW

Chad Gable's heel antics led to the end of Alpha Academy on Monday's RAW after Akira Tozawa, Otis, and Maxxine Dupri walked out on the faction. Tozawa has been announced to face Nathan Frazer on next Wednesday's WWE Speed in his first match since being on his own again.

Frazer currently holds the NXT Tag Team Championship with Axiom, and the company is also teasing that this team will split due to the masked superstar being annoyed at how his partner keeps challenging for singles titles.

Next Wednesday's Tozawa vs. Frazer match on Speed will see the winner advance to face Xavier Woods the following week. Woods defeated Dijak to advance earlier today. The winner of Woods vs. Frazer or Tozawa will earn a shot at the WWE Speed Championship.

Regarding Axiom and Frazer, The Prodigy of Pro Wrestling responded to today's Speed announcement and tagged his partner, then posted something of an apology:

"@Axiom_WWE... I can explain," Nathan Frazer wrote.

El Niño Anónimo then responded and continued adding to the tension within the team. Axiom said he would've appreciated a heads-up on Frazer's latest singles title pursuit, but he did wish his partner good luck:

"After our talk, he decided to literally challenge for every single title in the company. A heads up before would have been great I guess [man shrugging emoji] Suerte, amigo!" Axiom wrote.

The Supersonic Duo will receive new #1 contenders on next Tuesday's NXT, as there will be a Tag Team Turmoil match with teams to be announced. Next week's NXT will also see Frazer challenge Tony D'Angelo for his Heritage Cup Championship.

Andrade's first WWE Speed Championship defense

Andrade recently became the second-ever WWE Speed Champion. Ricochet was crowned the inaugural champion after defeating Johnny Gargano last month, but The Highlight of the Night was forced to drop the title to Andrade as he's leaving the company.

El Idolo's Speed Championship win aired on June 14, and Triple H immediately issued a statement. He earned the title shot by defeating Tommaso Ciampa. Now, he is set to defend the Speed Championship for the first time on Friday, July 5.

Andrade will defend against Xavier Woods, Nathan Frazer, or Akira Tozawa. Next week's Speed episode will feature Frazer vs. Tozawa, then the winner of that match will face Woods on Wednesday, July 3.
