Popular WWE star shares message after making history on RAW
A popular WWE star sent a heartfelt message today on social media after making history last night on RAW. Last night's edition of the red brand aired live from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
WWE referee Aja Smith served as the referee for the main event of this week's edition of RAW, where Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair successfully defended the Women's Tag Team Championship against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
Following last night's show, Aja Smith (Daphanie LaShaunn) took to Instagram today to note that she was the first woman to officiate the main event of WWE RAW. Smith noted that she had worked hard over the past five years and was proud of her journey in the company so far.
"FIRST WOMAN TO OFFICIATE THE MAIN EVENT OF RAW🥹🫶🏾 5 years of working hard, never complaining, and keeping a positive mindset. If you get anything from my journey, know you can achieve anything you want if you put the work behind it. And that’s on #RefBae💋 #BlackGirlMagic," she wrote.
Vince Russo comments on Lilian Garcia becoming the new ring announcer on WWE RAW
Former WWE writer recently discussed Lilian Garcia replacing Samantha Irvin as ring announcer on RAW.
Samantha Irvin surprisingly announced her departure from the company last month, and Lilian Garcia has returned as her replacement. Speaking on this week's episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws show, Russo praised Garcia and said she was a pro.
However, he noted that she is 58 years old, and the travel associated with working with the company might be difficult for her moving forward.
"She [Lilian Garcia] is a pro, no doubt about it. It's hard for me because when I saw her going back [to WWE] [...] I think she's 58 now. Bro, the road ain't easy when you get older man. It's just not easy. And that's the first thing I think about. But maybe if she's just doing RAW it won't be that bad. But the older you get, the tougher it is to be on the road."
