Popular WWE Superstar teases return after 9 months to win the Women's United States Championship

SmackDown Manager Nick Aldis recently unveiled the WWE Women's United States Championship. A popular superstar took to social media to tease a return to go after the title despite being absent from television for over nine months now.

Shotzi was forced out of action earlier this year due to an injury. She tore her ACL during a match with Lyra Valkyria on the February 13 edition of NXT. The contest was called off after the 32-year-old suffered the unfortunate ligament tear.

Shotzi took to her Instagram story today to tease a return from injury and going after the Women's United States Championship. The former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion reshared an Instagram update about the recently introduced title posted by WWE's head of creative, Triple H.

Former WWE Superstar shares interesting update regarding Shotzi's return from injury

Former WWE Superstar Mideon recently claimed he was working with Shotzi on a unique character ahead of her return from injury.

During his appearance on The Undertaker's Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway podcast, the 55-year-old stated that the Stamford-based company was planning to have Shotzi return as a new character inspired by a roller derby-like persona from the 2000 movie American Psycho. The former WWE European Champion shared more details about the gimmick:

"I was asked by a couple of people to ‘help them out’ on their returns, ideas for stories. So I really kind of got this 'American Psycho' thing working for Shotzi, who I love. I see her as a roller derby. [...] Did she not fit the roller derby thing? Although I’ve kind of went in an 'American Psycho' thing, where she’s kind of been sitting at home, and see the video of her, and there’s two TVs, there’s a TV in front of her, and she’s watching the current women’s stable wrestle, and there’s a TV next to her with the ending of ‘Texas Chainsaw’, where all you hear is chainsaws, so she goes kind of insane a little bit," he said.

Shotzi was among the top stars on the blue brand before she got injured. With the Women's United States Championship being introduced on SmackDown, she might instantly go after the title on her return to television. However, it remains to be seen how much longer she would take to make her much-awaited return.
