Potential reason for Damian Priest's horrifying botch at WWE Clash at the Castle that nearly caused an injury; referee sent warning

At Clash at the Castle: Scotland, fans were not expecting things to go wrong during the match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre. Both superstars are consummate professionals with years of experience in the ring, and as a result, would be able to deal with most issues that came their way. However, something did go wrong and the two stars were left to deal with the horrifying issues.

The reason for the botch may have now emerged.

Damian Priest was trying to dive out of the ring and attack McIntyre, but due to a mishap with the ropes, he was left hanging outside down, with his foot caught in it. At the moment, the movement of his foot being caught caused the audience to fear that his ankle may have been injured due to the sudden nature of the botch. Fans were extremely worried, but thankfully, it appears that Priest is fine.

However, the botch happening was still a matter of concern for fans. Earlier in the night, Jade Cargill also had an issue with the ropes during her match, albeit not one so serious. She tried a springboard jump but fell into the ring awkwardly.

A video has now emerged from the first match of the night when AJ Styles was out and waiting for Cody Rhodes to make his entrance. The referee is shown talking to Styles and holding and shaking the rope, warning him that it is loose. Styles then goes over and shakes the rope himself to see the issue. It appears that the rope was loose throughout the night, which apparently caused both the botches.

The moment can be seen here.

At this time it appears that there have been no serious repercussions due to this, although things could have been far more serious.

Damian Priest is still the champion after WWE Clash at the Castle

Although many expected the title to change hands after Clash at the Castle, Damian Priest is still the champion. The Scottish favorite, Drew McIntyre, came close once again to winning the title in front of a rabid home crowd, but at the end of the day, was unable to win.

CM Punk's run-in as the referee during the match when the original referee, Eddie Orengo, was knocked out, caused the night to end in misery for McIntyre, who will now be looking to get his revenge on The Straight Edge Superstar.

Fans will have to wait to see what happens next on WWE RAW in the case of all three superstars.
