Prayers up for WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio
Multi-time World Champion Rey Mysterio is in a unique stage in his career as a professional wrestler. He has already been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame but continues to perform at a high level. Mysterio's personal life, though, has been rather rough of late. He lost his father recently and has now lost yet another member of his family.
Miguel Ángel López Díaz, who also went by the name Rey Mysterio Sr., passed away today morning. His son, Miguel Aarón López Hernández, who is best known as El Hijo de Rey Misterio which means "The Son of The Mystery King," and currently known as Rey Misterio Heredero which means "The Heir of the Mystery King," shared the sad news on social media:
"Amigos y familiares, Lamento communicarles que mi Sr Padre, Miguel Ángel López Días, Rey Misterio Sr. Falleció hoy por la mañana...se les mantendrá al tanto Gracias," El Hijo de Rey Misterio wrote, which translates to, "Friends and family, I regret to inform you that my father, Miguel Ángel López Días, Rey Misterio Sr., he passed away today morning...You will be kept informed. Thank you."

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio's standpoint when it comes to retirement
When getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023, Rey Mysterio did not consider retiring because he can still go. However, at the time, he had talked about it, noting that 50 is an appropriate number to retire.
Be that as it may, in the last two years, albeit his appearances have been less frequent than how he used to show up in the ring many years ago, Mysterio has proven that there is no need to bow out just yet. The Hall of Famer revealed that he still gets an overwhelming feeling every time he steps foot inside the squared circle, adding that when that feeling stops, he will retire.
As for how will his retirement be, Rey Mysterio articulated his plans for a farewell tour, claiming it's all that is left at this point in his career, which spans three decades:
"I think what's left is to be able to plan a nice sunset and be able to thank everyone that has followed and supported me throughout the years, and give them, when the time is right, a good farewell. Not something that'll happen one time and then I come back and do it again. Maybe a farewell tour. Something that can mean something to me and everyone that will be there. Whether it's every city, a country, 'this is the last time we'll be together,'" the luchador legend said.
After his Hall of Fame induction, Rey Mysterio went on to win the United States Championship in WWE and continues to lead the faction, Latino World Order, on WWE RAW. The show is set to make its Netflix premiere on January 6, 2025.
