"Punk is Dead" - Former WWE Champion's ominous warning ahead of SummerSlam

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Drew McIntyre took to his Instagram account to post an ominous message for CM Punk ahead of the duo's much-awaited showdown at SummerSlam in Cleveland, Ohio, next month. This past Monday, The Second City Saint announced that he had been medically cleared to compete.

During the segment, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce confirmed that Punk and Drew will finally clash at The Biggest Party of The Summer after feuding for several months. Punk suffered an injury during the Men's Royal Rumble Match earlier this year and has been consigned to the bench since then. However, despite his absence from in-ring activities, The Best in The World has been in the thick of things, thanks to his bitter feud with The Scottish Warrior.

Punk cost Drew the World Title at WrestleMania XL, Clash at the Castle, and at Money in the Bank, and The Scottish Psychopath cannot wait to finally get his hands on the former AEW World Champion.

Ahead of their marquee showdown in Cleveland, McIntyre took to his Instagram account on July 24 to send a bold message.

"Punk is Dead. #SummerSlam," Drew wrote.

CM Punk shares his true feelings about his WWE return

CM Punk did a few interviews after returning to World Wrestling Entertainment in November 2023. During an interaction on The Jackie Redmond Show, he candidly spoke about his return to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

The Straight Edge Superstar admitted he was nervous, adding that returning to WWE was a "completely different animal."

"100% of CM Punk was nervous. Returning to wrestling is one thing. Returning to WWE is a completely different animal. It was also hugely cathartic because I’m very much a guy who, if you ask me if I’m ready, I’m going to tell you 'No,' because part of the juice is being in front of a live crowd. I’m the old guy on the ice now,'' he said.

The SummerSlam showdown against Drew McIntyre will be CM Punk's first singles match inside a WWE ring since his return last year. It will be interesting to see how the Chicago native fares in his maiden in-ring outing since January 2024.
