Randy Orton chants take over RAW after his serious injury; ignored by former WWE champion
WWE RAW started with huge chants for Randy Orton after the unfortunate news broke that the star was out with an injury. The SmackDown star picked up an injury on the night of his match against Gunther and has since been confirmed.
He wrestled Gunther in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament, and though he came close, the fact that he had tweaked his hurt leg further during the bout didn't go well for him. The Ring General used the injury to beat Orton, although there was controversy as he was pinned because one of his shoulders was up throughout.
Triple H confirmed in an interview later that Orton was really beaten up and suffering from a serious injury. Answering his question about Orton's controversial loss, The Game said that a rematch was likely when The Viper returned, but for the moment, there was no confirmation how soon that would be. The return is expected in a few weeks.
When RAW kicked off with Gunther coming out, fans made it clear what they thought of him. They felt that Randy Orton should have been the one winning the King of the Ring and started to chant, "We Want Randy." With the news of his injury breaking, the support behind The Viper was more than ever, getting chanted for on RAW despite being a SmackDown star.
Gunther vs. Randy Orton may happen soon in a rematch
Although The Ring General, aka the King General, is the current King of the Ring, things have not been solidified for him yet.
The controversy has already caused Damian Priest to question the result, and things continue to play out in a less-than-happy way for the star. When Randy Orton returns, he will also want a rematch, something that Gunther is expected to grant him to legitimize his big win.
Fans will have to wait to see when this plays out.
