Randy Orton heavily criticized for major recent WWE career decision by veteran: "He's out of his mind”

A wrestling veteran thought that Randy Orton was "out of his mind" for a recent career decision he made. Greg Gagne is a fan of Orton's current storyline with Kevin Owens but was critical of The Viper's decision to return despite a back injury.

Orton was sidelined for more than a year due to a back issue that needed surgery. There were doubts about his comeback, but he made his glorious return at last year's Survivor Series: WarGames in Chicago. He has also taken a few back bumps since returning, which points to him being healthy.

Speaking on the Straight Talk With The Boss podcast, wrestling legend Greg Gagne praised Orton's current storyline with KO. Gagne called it the "hottest angle" he's seen in years, but was also baffled by the 14-time WWE World Champion's decision to return despite his back injury.

"The hottest angle that I've seen in years. KO and Randy Orton. I mean, my God! That was an old school type deal and it was well done. There was tremendous amount of heat on that and Randy was carted off on a stretcher and who knows if he'll be back. He had that same back surgery that I had, he's got double fusion, right? You got screws and you got braces in your back. And for him to even go back in there and wrestle again, he's out of his mind. Then what happened the other night, you could feel that crowd. And to me, that brought back a lot of old school to me. The fans got into it. They got hot," Gagne said. [From 08:54 to 10:04]

Kevin Owens recently put Randy Orton out of commission by hitting a Piledriver on him this past Friday on SmackDown. Orton has been ruled out by WWE and there's no timetable for his return.

WWE Hall of Famer reacts to Kevin Owens' heinous attack on Randy Orton

Bubba Ray Dudley was a fan of Kevin Owens using a Piledriver to take out Randy Orton in the storyline. The Hall of Fame reacted to it in an episode of Busted Open Radio and called it "part of reality."

"To me, it makes the piledriver that Kevin Owens gave to Randy even worse because it's not a part of storyline, it's part of reality. The boys stay away from the pile driver because nobody wants to end up like Austin, on the bad end of a mistake," Dudley said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

It will be interesting to see how Orton will get his revenge on Owens. The two stars are likely to clash in an intense match somewhere down the line.
