Randy Orton makes heartbreaking confession about injury and not having "any friends"; suffering from depression for 18 months

Randy Orton made a heartbreaking confession, opening up about a reality he had to face while injured. The star has opened up about a very vulnerable moment in his life.

Randy Orton's contribution to wrestling as The Legend Killer is immeasurable. However, the star is now a legend himself. Until his return at Survivor Series 2023, the star was inactive for 18 months. He had suffered a back injury and needed a lot of treatment to be fit enough to step back into the ring. While he was out, he spent much time with his family, but something was missing.

He was speaking to Cody Rhodes on the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast. He confessed that his injury made some things clear to him. He said that he felt he would never be able to leave WWE.

Orton said that he was happy in WWE and that when he was injured, he realized he had no friends at home besides his family. He said that he was very depressed, and while he was able to spend time with his wife, his kids, and his dogs, something vital was missing from his life—wrestling.

"I don't think I'll ever leave this place... Cody, I'm happy about that. I really am. I feel lucky. My wife talks about, 'You're in the bubble, you're in the bubble.' Yeah, I like it. I like it. I like the bubble. I don't have any friends at home. When I was out for 18 months, I went through a little bit of depression. Yes, but I was like depressed. I have my family. I have my kids. I'm smiling when I see my kids and doing stuff, and I'm with my dogs, and everything's great, but I was missing something," Orton confessed. (35:06 - 35:50)

Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes share rich history

Randy Orton was one of the stars who helped legitimize Cody Rhodes' first run in WWE.

While Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. broke out as part of the tag team Priceless, their involvement in Orton's faction, Legacy, saw them dominate most of the promotion.

The two stars are thus very familiar and expected to be in a rivalry soon.
