Randy Orton misses out on making history at WWE Summerslam following Bloodline attack
WWE Superstar Randy Orton will likely miss out on making history this Saturday at SummerSlam. The Viper has been involved in a rivalry with The Bloodline and was recently attacked by the faction on the July 12 edition of SmackDown.
Randy Orton missed over a year due to a back injury before returning to the company at WWE Survivor Series last year in Chicago. He teamed up with Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes to battle The Bloodline in a six-man tag team match at Money in the Bank but the trio were unable to defeat the faction.
The Legend Killer has competed in sixteen matches at SummerSlam during his time in the company. He is currently tied with The Undertaker for the most matches at the premium live event. However, he is currently not booked for a match this Saturday and will be missing out on making history unless he is a late addition to the card.
Randy Orton names WWE SmackDown star as a future world champion
WWE veteran Randy Orton recently claimed that Austin Theory has the potential to be a major star down the line.
Austin Theory defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 39 to retain the United States Championship but was unable to capitalize on the momentum following the match. He was recently WWE Tag Team Champion with Grayson Waller but the duo were dethroned by Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa earlier this month on SmackDown.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter in June, Randy Orton praised Austin Theory as a performer. He noted that it is difficult to predict success in the wrestling business but Theory has all the tools required to be a world champion in the future.
"It's hard, I don't have a crystal ball or anything, but Austin Theory is young and he's got a great look. I know where his head's at. I've had plenty of talks with him, and a lot of the things that I did as a kid that I maybe shouldn't have, the distractions that I was confronted with, he doesn't have those. I think he's just a little more gung-ho, motivated. He sees the goal, he sees the prize, he knows what he wants. I think he'll definitely be a world champion one day," Orton said. [1:33 – 2:08]

Randy Orton has not had a televised match since his loss earlier this month at WWE Money in the Bank. It will be interesting to see what the promotion has planned for the former champion in the weeks ahead.
