Former WWE Superstar says Randy Orton personally requested to work with him - "I want to do something else with him”
A former WWE star has disclosed how Randy Orton had personally requested the creative team in the company that he wanted to work alongside him. The person in question is none other than Orton's former tag team partner, Matt Riddle.
Riddle and Orton's pairing proved to be a big hit with the viewers. RK-Bro presented a more goofy and lighter side of The Viper, unlike his intense persona in the past. The duo even went on to capture the Tag Team Title on two occasions.
However, once Randy Orton was ruled out due to a serious injury in May 2022, the tag team was dissolved on a premature note. By the time Orton returned at Survivor Series 2023, The Original Bro was already gone from WWE.
In a recent interview with the Johnny I Pro Show, Matt Riddle explained how Orton had himself pitched that he wanted to work alongside him. Riddle added that The Viper was impressed by his work ethic after competing against him in a match.
“Randy was supposed to wrestle Braun Strowman one night and I was supposed to tag with Drew against Mace and T Bar you know when Retribution was still around. I don’t know what happened but Randy and Braun didn’t end up wrestling and they switched Braun with me. So I got to wrestle Randy instead. After we worked Randy spoke very highly of me. He’s like ‘I want to do something else with him’ and they already had plans that we tag," said Riddle. (H/T Ringside News)

Riddle was released from WWE in September 2023 barely two months before The Viper made his return at Survivor Series.
Rikishi wants Randy Orton to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship
In a recent episode of his podcast, Rikishi Fatu Off The Top, the WWE legend spoke highly of Damian Priest, who won the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 40. Rikishi explained that the Judgment Day member had to be pitted against the right opponents and firmly believes Randy Orton could do a great job of elevating Priest to another level by feuding with him.
"I think Randy Orton. Because I think about number one, what the quality match especially if you're holding the gold, it has to make sense. Everybody knows the reputation of Randy Orton and I think they would have an A-plus match all the time, and to be able to work with Randy can only bring the best out of Damian. That's something I feel like the fans would love to see," said Rikishi.
While it remains to be seen if Orton facing Damian Priest becomes a reality, for now, the latter is focused on Jey Uso, who challenged him at Backlash 2024.
