Randy Orton had sent a six-word message following milestone WWE moment, second-generation star saysÂ
Randy Orton is self-admittedly at the stage in his WWE career where he looks out for the younger talents and helps elevate them. Naturally, Orton has a soft spot for one of his biggest rival's son.
Dominik Mysterio shockingly turned on WWE Hall of Famers Rey Mysterio and Edge at Clash at the Castle 2022. With the benefit of hindsight, it can be regarded today as one of the defining heel turns of this generation. According to his father, Rey, it was what Dom needed in his career.
Speaking on Bootleg Kev, 'Dirty' Dom revealed that he has been getting a lot of help backstage from various personalities he can call mentors as his career evolves. The former NXT North American Champion also detailed a text message he received from Randy Orton when he turned heel:
"In the moment, top of my mind I can think of, Randy [Orton] has always been there, as far as texting me, even before he came back. He would always text me. I remember when I turned on my dad, he was one of the first people to text me, 'Hell yeah. Enjoy the ride, kid.'" [From 6:42 to 7:10]
At the time of Mysterio's heel turn, Orton was off television as he had to rehabilitate from severe injuries. Upon return in November 2023, The Viper stepped into the ring for his first singles match against the young star.
Randy Orton was stretchered out of the arena on WWE SmackDown
After their much-anticipated showdown ended in a no-contest at Crown Jewel before the match got underway, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens met in the ring this past Friday. They continued to trade punches and kicks until The Prizefighter executed a Piledriver on his former tag team partner.
WWE made a big deal out of this move, emphasizing its status as banned. Randy Orton wound up being stretchered out of KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. It remains to be seen when these two veterans finally get to settle their differences in a sanctioned match.
