Randy Orton stalks Shawn Michaels at WWE NXT and has flashbacks to Legend Killer days
WWE will continue its NXT CW era tonight with a live episode from the St. Louis area. Hometown star Randy Orton is set to return to the NXT ring tonight, but he's already going viral for pre-show happenings. Orton was spotted stalking Shawn Michaels in new backstage footage.
The Apex Predator and The Heartbreak Kid have shared the ring close to 150 times since 2003. Their first-ever singles bout took place that September at WWE Unforgiven, billed as a Legend vs. Legend Killer match. Orton won the match in just under twenty minutes. These days, Orton is a top superstar on SmackDown as a 24-year industry veteran, while Michaels continues his 40-year career as the head of NXT, and World Wrestling Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.
Orton is making a special appearance on tonight's live NXT episode, where he will face rising star Je’Von Evans. WWE shared the following footage of Michaels arriving to The Factory at The District in Chesterfield, Missouri, for tonight's show. The Viper can be seen in the background, seemingly stalking his former rival and tag team partner.
The WWE Universe is responding to the clip with jokes about how the third generation superstar had flash backs to his Legend Killer days, perhaps with thoughts on dropping Mr. WrestleMania with the RKO just one more time.
Orton is wrestling his second-ever NXT match tonight. His debut on the third brand came on February 21, 2013 as he defeated Damien Sandow. Evans has teamed with Cedric Alexander as of late, but his last televised singles bout was a loss to Heritage Cup Champion Charlie Dempsey on September 10.
