Real-life Ric Flair confrontation caused "hurt" ex-WWE star to punch a wall

Ric Flair is widely viewed as one of the greatest wrestlers ever. In a recent YouTube video, former WWE star Stevie Richards recalled how he punched a wall after an incident with The Nature Boy at a hotel.

During their time in TNA, Richards arrived at a hotel with AJ Styles when he spotted Flair drinking with other wrestlers at the bar. According to the former Hardcore Champion, Flair repeatedly told Styles to "ditch that jobber" and drink with the big stars.

Richards said on The Stevie Richards Show that everyone laughed at him, including former TNA President Dixie Carter. As Styles tried to calm him down, the ex-ECW talent considered punching Flair before deciding against it.

"I've never felt so small and dressed down and offended and hurt and angry, and, dude, I literally punched a wall in the hallway at the DoubleTree [hotel], which I've never [done]," Richards stated. "I didn't punch a hole in it. I'm not quite that strong, so I could have punched Ric and he could have laughed at me and beat my a** and wiped the floor with me, but I've never been disrespected [like that]." [4:00 – 4:26]

Richards clarified that he has been disrespected in the wrestling business many times. However, nobody has publicly disrespected him in front of colleagues like Flair did.

Ric Flair and Stevie Richards' conversation the next day

AJ Styles did not join Ric Flair and the other TNA wrestlers at the bar. Instead, he went to play video games with Stevie Richards elsewhere at the hotel.

Richards saw Flair the following day and the 16-time champion spoke to him like the bar incident did not take place:

"The next day, Ric comes up to me, 'Hello, sir, how you doing?' like nothing ever happened. And I shook his hand and regretted it to not say 'F U, you piece of,' you know what, and walk away." [4:33 – 4:48]

Richards only spent two years in TNA between 2009 and 2011. The 53-year-old is best known for his WWE run between 1999 and 2008. He also wrestled for ECW and WCW in the 1990s.
