Real reason why CM Punk and Seth Rollins faced off in the ring, according to former WWE employee (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about CM Punk and Seth Rollins' confrontation on RAW. The two stars got involved in a scuffle this past Monday Night.
The Second City Saint kicked off the show this week to talk about the resounding victory at WarGames and set his sights on bigger goals. He was interrupted by Rollins who was out there looking for a fight. The Visionary even shoved CM Punk leading to the two stars getting physical. Sami Zayn and Jey Uso rushed in to separate the two men.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo reasoned that the whole point of the opening segment was just to set up the main event match between Seth and Sami. He detailed that Rollins should have been irate with CM Punk for joining The OG Bloodline and taking up all the spotlight after The Visionary was attacked by Solo Sikoa and his henchmen leading up to Survivor Series.
"The whole thing with Punk and Rollins is, here's what this is. They need a main event for the show. That's where this whole in-ring is coming from. It's coming out of left field. The heat should be between Seth Rollins and CM Punk. If we remember, the Bloodline screwed Rollins and we thought Rollins was gonna be on the side of the babyfaces but Punk jumped in. So the promo should have been once again, glory hog, after they screwed me, you jumped in like a knight in shining armor. But no, here comes Sami because we need a main event for tonight's show." [From 14:00 onwards]
The main event match between Sami and Rollins ended with The Visionary picking up the win. However, moments after the match, Drew McIntyre returned and planted Zayn with a devastating Claymore.
It will be interesting to see if McIntyre addresses his issues with Sami Zayn next week on RAW.
