Reason for CM Punk restructuring his WWE deal revealed - Reports

CM Punk is looking to get the best out of his current stint with the WWE and is reportedly restructuring his deal. The Second City Saint has been with the company for only a few months since his return at Survivor Series 2023 but now wants to stay there 'forever' until it's time for him to move on.

CM Punk returned to World Wrestling Entertainment with the help of Triple H after his infamously documented fallout with AEW. However, his much-awaited return to a WWE ring didn't go as planned he suffered a torn tricep injury at the 2024 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. Punk has since been on the shelf and has been engaged in a hot feud with Drew McIntyre.

Dave Meltzer spoke about why CM Punk is looking to restructure his current deal with the WWE over on Wrestling Observer Radio. He revealed that Punk had signed a short-term contract with the company that is set to expire soon and that the terms of his new deal are currently being ironed out.

"What happened when CM Punk came in, they had a short-term deal which is expiring now. Now there are rollovers in the deal so there’s not like a hurry that they have to sign him because the deal goes longer. But they knew all along that right around now would be when they would be renegotiating any deals... It was kind of known that that was going to happen now. Everyone is getting along fine. There's nothing wrong with it or anything like that... He's just hammering down the terms that everyone knew they were going to do at a certain point, which is now just to basically get everyone back on the page because they both know where they want to be," Dave Meltzer said.
