WWE News: Reason why Ric Flair is no longer hosting a podcast

Ric Flair doesn’t want further heat

What’s the story?

As per Ric Flair, the reason that he no longer hosts a podcast is due to heat with the WWE fans and management over the some of the comments that he made on it in the past.

This information came to light over WrestleMania weekend during the WrestleCon Q&A session that Flair participated in alongside Sting and Jim Ross.

In case you didn’t know...

The Ric Flair Show started last July, but only had lasted 24 episodes.

Flair was to return to podcasting on a different show with MLB Network’s Robert Flores, but due to the heat with WWE, and the fact that his daughter Charlotte is on the active roster, he decided to get out of the podcast business completely.

The heart of the matter

During WrestleCon, Flair stated that the reason that he had quit the podcasting business was because he could no longer be objective when it comes to his opinion of what is happening in the WWE.

One moment in particular that had drawn the ire of WWE management was when Flair had stated that Finn Balor was too small for being a main event player within the WWE.

It is pretty clear that the WWE wants to build the future around Balor. He was the first ever WWE Universal Champion, and rumour has it that he will feud with another top guy in Kevin Owens for his first feud back since returning from a shoulder injury.

What’s next?

It is uncertain what is next for Ric Flair. After his run with his daughter Charlotte, some have speculated that he would manage a current WWE Superstar. He’s definitely in good terms with the WWE so the phone will certainly ring for an appearance sometime down the road.

Author’s take

It is one of the frustrating things that the WWE does. People associated with the WWE should be free to express their opinions and not have Vince McMahon be upset about it.

In the podcast that I host, Lost In The Midcard, neither myself of my co-host hold anything back when it comes to giving the WWE criticism when it is due. We are also one of the first people to praise the company for doing something great as well.
