Recent title change proves WWE creative has changed drastically, explains Vince Russo (Exclusive)
WWE fans recently witnessed a championship change hands, catching many by surprise. Vince Russo also commented on the matter, stating it was an instance of how booking tendencies have changed over the years.
On SmackDown, The Motor City Machine Guns won the titles from Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, after an interference from Jey Uso. The interruption was enough for MCMG to capitalize on, as they snatched a title win in just their second week in WWE. While many were left shocked by the win, Vince Russo believes it is quite normal in this era.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, the former WWE Head writer explained that championship belts were now put on certain stars for different reasons than they were in the past. He stated:
"Bro that is the way it was. You put the title and the belt on the person you thought was gonna put the but*s in the seats. You know, the person who was going to carry the promotion. Because back then, bro it was all house show driven. You had to make money at the house shows. So that is why you know, it is a big deal to put it on one guy because you are gonna build a house on that one guy." [2:10 onwards]

Another WWE veteran has shared his thoughts on The Motor City Machine Guns
According to Dutch Mantell, one-half of The Guns does not have any personality. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's SmackTalk, the former on-screen manager explained that Chris Sabin does have much talent on the mic, unlike his partner Alex Shelley. He stated:
"I had them in TNA; I was with them in TNA. Great athletes and great workers. But Chris Sabin has no personality, really, as a speaker. And it's all down to Alex Shelley. Now, Alex Shelley, if you just listen to him, he is funny as hell, and he has a connection with the people."

As of now, it remains to be seen how MCMG copes with the pressure that comes with holding titles in WWE.
