Recently released WWE Superstar takes a dig at Cody Rhodes
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes made his way back into the Stamford-based promotion in 2022 after years in independent circuits and rival promotions. Now, a former star who is set for a first independent match after almost seven years has sent a message to The American Nightmare.
The name being discussed here is Dijak, who was a part of WWE from 2017 to 2024. He was supposed to make his Monday Night RAW appearance following the 2024 Draft, but the company didn't utilize him.
The star announced his WWE exit on social media and stated that the company didn't offer him a new contract. Nevertheless, the former NXT star will now be known as Donovan Dijak (his old in-ring name) and he is set to face Aaron Rourke on July 4, 2024, at Beyond Wrestling's Americanrana event.
On his X (Twitter) account, the former Retribution member jokingly took a dig at Cody Rhodes. Dijak hilariously claimed he is the new "American Nightmare," because of the poster revealed by Beyond Wrestling.
"Look at me, look at me @CodyRhodes, I’m the American Nightmare now," he wrote.
Wrestling veteran points out major problems with Cody Rhodes and other WWE babyfaces
Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently highlighted issues with The American Nightmare and babyface stars such as Seth Rollins and Jey Uso.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo claimed that even though Cody, Rollins, and Uso might get a great crowd reaction, they are not at the level of Attitude Era legends such as The Undertaker, Stone Cold, and The Rock.
"They sing Cody in, they love singing Cody's song, obviously with Seth Rollins. And now you can add Jey Uso to that list. When it's Yeet, No Yeet and it's that fan participation and they feel like they're a part of it and now the crowd is into that. Bro, you're gonna sit there and you're gonna put Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, and Seth Rollins next to Austin, the Rock, Taker, Mick Foley, and DX? I'm sorry but they're not in the same league," he said.
The WWE Champion will team up with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton to face The Bloodline at Money in the Bank 2024 on July 6. It remains to be seen if Cody Rhodes and the team secure a win over the Solo Sikoa-led faction.
