Record-breaking WWE champion teases massive heel turn using a huge anime reference

A record-breaking WWE champion has been teasing a heel turn and the dissolving of a faction for several weeks. On the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, Xavier Woods dropped a huge anime reference to further fuel his eventual fallout with Kofi Kingston.

The New Day will soon celebrate the 10th anniversary of its majestic career, which saw Woods win the Tag Team Championship 11 times. The Stamford-based promotion played a video promo of the faction's journey. As the footage ended, the camera revealed that Woods and Kingston were watching the clip on a television backstage.

Interestingly, The New Day members were seen wearing outfits representing Son Goku and Goku Black from the anime Dragon Ball Super. Notably, Goku Black is a nemesis of the protagonist, Goku, in the Akira Toriyama-authored manga and anime. This was a major surprise for the WWE Universe, who didn’t see this coming.

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston didn’t just use their attires to gain hype from fans. The duo actually ended up in a sharp verbal spat backstage following a big upset against The Alpha Academy. Moreover, The New Day members even slandered each other’s WWE careers and title wins.

It would be interesting to see if the stable will survive an imminent collapse ahead of the celebration of its decade-long journey.
