Record-breaking WWE champion wants Gunther
Gunther has set a high standard in WWE, The Ring General has been a champion for over 70 percent of his career in the company and rarely gets pinned in the ring. Meanwhile, the longest-reigning North American Champion, Oba Femi, has talked about a potential match with the World Heavyweight Champion.
Earlier this year, fans witnessed Oba Femi's rise as he cashed in his NXT Breakout tournament opportunity and captured the North American Championship. The ruler of NXT took the title to new heights and dominated the competition, similar to Gunther's reign as the Intercontinental Champion.
In an interview with Going Ringside, Oba Femi took a few names from WWE's main roster, who he wants to face. During the interview, Femi spoke highly of the World Heavyweight Champion. He later expressed why he wants a match with Gunther and how different it will be compared to what the consensus thinks.
"I feel like that's what everybody's expecting [Brutal match], but it's going to be more than that. I feel like with me and Gunther going in the same ring, it's not going to be mindless chops, there's going to be a lot more to it," Femi said. (From 04:59 to 05:12)

Gunther and Oba Femi defended their respective titles on WWE television
A few months ago, Gunther fulfilled his promise and won the World Heavyweight Championship following his crowning as King of the Ring winner in May 2024 at the titular premium live event.
He dethroned Damian Priest and had a few successful title defenses as the champion. However, Sami Zayn became a huge roadblock in The Ring General's reign, as he previously lost his Intercontinental Championship to Zayn.
On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, Gunther defended his World Heavyweight Championship and beat Sami Zayn in a one-on-one match. This was The Ring General's first win over Zayn after WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia.
Unfortunately, Oba Femi's dominant reign ended on WWE NXT. After weeks of feuding with Tony D'Angelo, Femi lost the North American Championship when Angelo rolled him up for three count.
This was Oba Femi's first pinfall loss in over 250 days. It'll be interesting to see what Femi does on the developmental brand or if the star will move to WWE's main roster in the coming weeks or months.
