Record-setting WWE champion sends a cryptic message to Swerve Strickland after AEW Double or Nothing
WWE and AEW are currently each other’s biggest rivals in the pro wrestling industry. Despite being a very new promotion, All Elite Wrestling has become a sort of second home for several talents from the Stamford-based company. Interestingly, several wrestlers also keep lauding and paying tributes or sending messages to each other from their respective companies.
The latest case of this has been seen between The New Day’s Xavier Woods and Swerve Strickland. The AEW World Champion was seen donning the iconic Warriors outfit during his appearance on the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
The 12-time WWE Tag Team Champion seemingly reacted to Strickland's entrance and posted a cryptic gif of the main character from The Warriors movie.
Check out Xavior Woods' tweet below.
Xavier Woods has notably held the WWE Tag Titles a record 12 times in his career. He is a seven-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, four-time RAW, and former NXT Tag Team Champion.
Notably, while Woods has shown a bit of camaraderie towards the AEW World Champion, another former WWE Tag Team Champion is at odds with Strickland. In fact, he even demeaned the former NXT North American Champion after receiving good words from the superstar.
When a WWE veteran continued to be on the bad side of Swerve Stickland
Swerve Strickland overcame a difficult challenge in the form of Christian Cage at AEW Double or Nothing to continue his World Championship reign. Following the match, Strickland noted that Cage is perhaps one of the biggest names in Tony Khan’s company, while also stating that he is still the best.
However, his opponent wasn’t as graceful despite eating the dust recently. Responding to a tweet by Sportskeeda Wrestling, Cage put the AEW World Champion down.
"He just don’t make as much."
Christian Cage is also a former Tag Team Champion in Stamford-based company, who had in a way revived tag team wrestling with Edge (Adam Copeland) and other legendary tag teams in the early 2000s. His remaining bitter with Swerve Strickland suggests that their feud will continue in the coming weeks. It would be interesting to see if the Swerve can overcome Christian once again.
