Released WWE star introduces new character
A recently released WWE star revealed her new ring name today. The Stamford-based promotion seemingly needs to figure out creative plans for their new talents in good time, failing which there is little chance of them surviving roster cuts.
Emma Diaz is one such talent who featured in WWE Next Gen, but was released by the sports entertainment giant on May 3. However, Diaz does not intend to let this setback stop her, and she will continue her wrestling career in the independent scene under a new ring name. She took to her social media today and unveiled her new name - "Carolina Cruz."
"My name is Carolina Cruz and this is my story. 🏎️🔥🏁 #thehavanasavage #prowrestling" she wrote.
Carolina Cruz recently opened up about her release affecting her real-life romantic relationship with NXT star Lexis King, aka Brian Pillman Jr. This was owing to the loss of financial stability, as they both earned on similar levels. However, she revealed that her partner is excited about her venturing into the independent scene, as he had also done so before.
Carolina Cruz addresses future plans to sign with TNA or WWE
During a conversation with WrestleZone, Carolina Cruz shared her future plans. She joined Booker T's Reality of Wrestling and intends to begin training soon alongside Sean Spears and Tyler Breeze.
However, more importantly, she pointed to a silver lining to getting released from the Stamford-based wrestling juggernaut, i.e. completing her Biology program at the University of Central Florida. After completing her final semester she intends to get back to her pro wrestling career and hopes she will be picked up by one of the big promotions.
"I want to graduate college, so I’m coming up on that now," Cruz revealed. "I have one more semester left, so now I can focus on finishing that. That’s pretty much it right now, and then going to Flatbacks and continuing my pro wrestling career, and maybe getting picked up by a company like TNA or finding my way back into WWE. That’s what I’m focusing on right now — having my degree in my back pocket and putting my best foot forward at pro wrestling," she said.
WWE released several names on May 3, including Emma Diaz (now Carolina Cruz), Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, Ezekiel Balogun, Kiyah Saint, Valentina Feroz, Keyshawn Leflore, Trey Bearhill, and Julian Baldi.
Nevertheless, many wrestlers have been down this road before and made it back better than ever, Cody Rhodes being one such example. There is every possibility that Cruz might also follow suit and return an even bigger star.
