AEW president Tony Khan mocked the idea of Jinder Mahal challenging Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship earlier this year. Mahal discussed the situation on the Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet and thanked Khan for inadvertently bringing more attention to the match.

Vince Russo reacts to Jinder Mahal's departure from WWE

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo has shared his thoughts on the company letting Jinder Mahal go and said he has witnessed stars lose their jobs for minor issues in the past.

Speaking on an episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws show, the veteran speculated that one person's opinion could have led to the company moving on from Mahal. Russo added that all it takes is one person and that is what is unfortunate about the professional wrestling industry:

"If somebody's got it out for you, and that's the thing, your career is in the hands of these people. Bro, somebody could have not liked Jinder Mahal because he was of Indian descent. You don't know that. You just don't know. All it takes is one person, and, bro, that's the thing that s*cks about professional wrestling," said Russo. [5:28 – 5:53]

Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton at Backlash 2017 to capture the WWE Championship. He held the title for an impressive 170 days before he lost it to AJ Styles. Only time will tell what the future holds for The Modern Day Maharaja in the world of professional wrestling.
