Retired 48-year-old legend makes a sudden appearance on SmackDown after attack on Jade Cargill
Jade Cargill was brutally assaulted on SmackDown tonight by an unknown assailant (as of writing). In what was a rather surprising moment, we saw a cameo from a retired 48-year-old legend. This was the rare sighting of Robert Roode.
Cargill is one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions and will be on the babyface team for the Women's WarGames match alongside Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Naomi, and IYO SKY. On the other side is the line-up of Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae.
While Bianca Belair was in the first round of the US Women's Title tournament match, a graphic on the screen popped up showing Jade Cargill lying motionless on a shattered windshield. Belair ditched her match, allowing Chelsea Green to advance after beating Blair Davenport. Checking on Jade Cargill was none other than the producer and retired superstar Bobby Roode/Robert Roode.
It's rare to see a Roode appearance ever since he quietly retired in the recent years. He has put his experience to work and seems to be doing well as a backstage producer - following a similar trajectory to that of Jason Jordan and Tyson Kidd.
However, Roode's career wasn't cut short in the same way. His prime on the WWE main roster was cut short.
Either way, he wasn't there when the ambulance was present and Bianca Belair was in disbelief at the events backstage. Nick Aldis and Jason Jordan calmed her down while Belair told a concerned Bayley to take a walk.
