Rey Mysterio breaks character to praise Dominik Mysterio

WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio recently broke character to praise his son Dominik Mysterio. The father-son duo fell out two years ago and have not sorted out their differences yet.

"Dirty" Dom turned heel at WWE: Clash at the Castle 2022 by attacking former Adam Copeland (FKA Edge) and The Master of 619. The younger Mysterio later aligned himself with The Judgment Day, which proved to be the turning point of his wrestling career.

Speaking on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Rey Mysterio admitted he was wrong to think it was too soon for Dominik to part ways with him. The WWE Hall of Famer praised his son's work following the heel turn. Rey added he was proud of The Judgment Day member:

“Maybe I would have thought at the time that it was a little too soon, but I was completely wrong. Look at him now. Look at all the success he’s gained. Look at the confidence booster that he has, just overall his growth. As a father and as one of his fans, I enjoy watching him in the ring every time. And you have no idea this feeling of gratitude and that I’m his dad. That’s how I feel because it’s a normal reaction, you know? I’m proud of him, I love him, and I enjoy the work that he’s accomplishing," he said. [H/T: WrestleZone]

Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio have competed twice at WrestleMania

Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio competed against each other for the first time at WrestleMania 39. The former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions put forth a back-and-forth contest on Night One, which ended with the father standing tall.

The Mysterios competed against each other at WrestleMania XL in a tag team match. While Rey teamed up with Andrade, Dominik joined forces with Santos Escobar. The babyfaces showed great teamwork and coordination, and the contest ended with the former World Heavyweight Champion pinning his former stablemate Escobar to secure the win.

Dominik Mysterio pinned Rey Mysterio for the first time earlier this year. Amid Rhea Ripley's absence, the former NXT North American Champion teamed up with Liv Morgan to take on Rey and Zelina Vega in a mixed tag team match on the July 8 edition of Monday Night RAW.

As Dominik revealed later, Morgan helping him secure a win over his father played a crucial role in him siding with the Women's World Champion instead of The Eradicator.
