Rey Mysterio may not consider working iconic match, WWE star says
Having been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023, there is not much else left for Rey Mysterio to do. Mysterio, 49, is self-admittedly ready to ride off into the sunset. Perhaps it is a matter of finding the right match to go out on.
Despite having faced his son repeatedly in the last two years, 'Dirty' Dom still feels like an appropriate final opponent for the Hall of Famer. However, the 27-year-old is not sure if his father will agree to it.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Dominik Mysterio claimed that he wants the luchador legend to be gone from WWE for good. When asked about a potential 'Hair vs. Mask' match as the finale for The Master of the 619's illustrious career, 'Dirty' Dom expressed his interest:
"I just want him gone," Dominik said, before responding to potentially working the legendary match type with his father. "Nah, he would never. Plus, my hair is too luscious. [...] I'm sure it would be [interesting]. I don't know if that's something he would consider." [From 17:05 to 18:14]
The Judgment Day star reminded Van Vliet that he had beaten his father twice already, then went on to claim that the Hall of Famer needed outside help each time the latter got a win over him.
Dominik Mysterio open to completing a trilogy at WWE WrestleMania 41
Chris Van Vliet noted how the Mysterio family lives in Las Vegas, and WrestleMania 41 is happening in Paradise, Nevada.
'Dirty' Dom retorted with the fact that Rey Mysterio might have to retire the mask if he loses, so people will have to look at the legendary luchador's "ugly face." Nevertheless, the former NXT North American Champion added that if that is what needs to be done, he will not hesitate:
"I'd hate for him to have to show his ugly face to everyone again. I don't want to do that to people, but at the same time, if it's the necessary evil that must be done, we'll see." [From 18:24 to 18:38]
On the July 8 episode of RAW this year, The Judgment Day member teamed up with Women's World Champion Liv Morgan, who assisted him in defeating Rey Mysterio for the first time in his career. Whether he manages to end the Hall of Famer's career within the next six months bear watching.
