Rey Mysterio reveals first thing he told Triple H after he was asked to enter the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame
Rey Mysterio has disclosed what he told Triple H when he was asked to be inducted into the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame. The wrestling legend felt like he wasn't ready to retire.
The Master of the 619 is one of the most decorated wrestlers in history. He's regarded as the greatest luchador of all time and is a huge role model for kids. Rey was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year by his longtime friend Konnan, but he continues to wrestle even today. He's the leader of the LWO, a babyface group on RAW.
During a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Rey Mysterio said when he was asked to enter the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame, he thought they wanted him to retire. He told Triple H that he wasn't ready to hang up his boots yet.
"When I was offered that position, I thought they were asking for a retirement. I straight up told [Triple H], 'I'm not ready to retire.' He goes, 'No, you're not. We don't want you to retire. We just think it's the best place, it being in LA, your backyard.' I was like, 'Wow.' I felt like they gifted me with the biggest gift in the world. When you've committed your life to this business for 35 years, that's like the one token that kind of certifies you for everything that you've done," Mysterio said. [H/T - Wrestling Inc.]
Rey Mysterio on what's next for him
The former WWE Champion made his televised WWE in-ring return on RAW this week. His LWO stable lost to his son's group, The Judgment Day.
When asked what's next for him, Rey Mysterio said:
"I think what's left is to be able to plan a nice sunset and be able to thank everyone that has followed and supported me throughout the years. Give them, when the time is right, a good farewell, not something that happens one time and then I come back and then do it again. Maybe even like a farewell tour, but something that can mean something to me and to everyone that will be there, whether it's in every city or in a country. [They know] this is the last time we will be together."
It'll be interesting to see what Triple H has in store for Rey Mysterio and the rest of the LWO on RAW.
