Rey Mysterio spotted with former rival ahead of WWE SmackDown

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was spotted with a SmackDown star in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the location of Crown Jewel. Although he was not a part of the show, Mysterio flew with the crew for the event.

Andrade has been feuding with Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown. The two stalwarts have squared off seven times in the past few months. Their last singles match ended with United States Champion LA Knight's interference, leading to a Triple Threat title defense in Saudi Arabia. At Crown Jewel, El Idolo and Hayes unsuccessfully challenged Knight. Whether they continue chasing The Megastar's belt bears watching.

Taking to Instagram, Andrade shared some behind the scenes snaps. Some selfies featured fellow WWE Superstars such as Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee of the Latino World Order, and R-Truth. He is also seen smoking shisha, a leisure activity especially popular in the Middle East.

Andrade and Rey Mysterio feuded during the former's first run in WWE. At one point, even over the United States Championship. El Idolo's match in Saudi Arabia last Saturday was his first noteworthy premium live event performance since WrestleMania XL in April, where he teamed up with Mysterio to defeat 'Dirty' Dom and Santos Escobar.

Rey Mysterio says Andrade is the "next top superstar" in WWE

Rey Mysterio and Andrade had some impeccable wrestling matches which may have gone under the radar owing to the fact they never made it to a premium live event. Needless to say, their contests on the weekly shows have been raved by many. The Hall of Famer puts El Idolo up there with some of the best rivals of his career, including late legend Eddie Guerrero.

Speaking on BT Sport, Rey Mysterio opened up about working with Andrade, their insane chemistry, which reminds him of some of the big stars he worked with back in the day, and the possibility of El Idolo climbing up the ranks eventually:

"There's a chemistry there that I feel I had with Eddie. Our backgrounds, our style, very similar. Being second generation. That has a lot to do with the connection we have in the ring. To be able to think 'we're on the same page' is very rare. I've been blessed throughout my career that I've had that connection with many. Kurt Angle, Edge, RVD, Eddie, Batista. But, with Andrade, there is something that clicks that is very unique. He's the next top superstar in the company. If he keeps working hard like he has been, I just don't see why not," he said. The maked man continues to lead Latino World Order on RAW, while Carmelo Hayes has claimed recently that his rivalry with Andrade is going to end with one of them with LA Knight's United States Championship.
