Rey Mysterio unites with ex-Universal Champion for a big event outside of WWE
Rey Mysterio is a wrestling legend and icon and is recognizable wherever he goes in the world. He and an ex-Universal Champion united to be a part of a big non-WWE event recently.
Mysterio has been a relatively busy man on Monday Night RAW, continuing his role as the leader of The LWO. Meanwhile, former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman recently picked up a huge win against "Big" Bronson Reed in a "Last Monster Standing" Match, courtesy of the returning Seth Rollins.
Recently, the two men, Mysterio and Braun Strowman were the Honorary Starters, jointly waving the Green Flag at the NASCAR South Point 400 event in Las Vegas.
A highly-regarded WWE legend said he would want to wrestle Rey Mysterio if he could
Mysterio is a beloved legend across multiple generations and it's hard not to have respect for his incredible body of work - whether you're a fan or a veteran retired wrestler who is considered one of the greatest to ever do it.
During an interview with The Wrestling Classic, wrestling legend Bret Hart remarked that Rey Mysterio is up there with him as one of the best to ever wrestle and wished that he could face him if he had one last match.
"If I could pick one guy, it would be Rey Mysterio. I always forget Mysterio, but I think Mysterio is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Like, he’s right up there as the best there is, best there was, best there ever will be. He’s really good. He’s really special. Nobody can do what Mysterio does." (20:26 - 20:51)
There is no doubt that it would have been a big money match back in its day. However, by the time Mysterio made his WWE debut in 2002, the curtains had come down on Bret Hart's legendary career.
