Rhea Ripley explains why she betrayed 2-time WWE Women's World Champion (Exclusive)

WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley recently talked about a relatively old betrayal she orchestrated, which had a major impact on her run afterward. According to Ripley, this was entirely unavoidable.

During her first run on RAW, the Eradicator had Liv Morgan as her tag team partner. While they initially looked to be a good fit together, friction between them eventually reached its head after they lost a major title match against Sasha Banks and Naomi. Immediately afterward, Ripley attacked Morgan and turned heel.

Speaking in an exclusive interview for Sportskeeda Wrestling's WrestleBinge, Rhea Ripley was asked about why she betrayed the 30-year-old star. She said that there were already frictions between the two and it was only a matter of who took that step first. She also felt Morgan was holding back her killer instinct and trying to turn her into something she did not want to be.

"So I trusted her, until I started feeling like something bad was going to happen. I have been backstabbed by multiple partners prior to this, and I mean she has too. So we were both broken in the same ways and it was only about time that one of us were turning on the other. With us arguing, and us not getting along, and us losing our matches and her draining that killer side of me, and making me into this mushy little tag partner that she wanted, I felt like I was getting sculpted for a betrayal. So I thought I had to do it before she did," said Ripley. [4:18 onwards]

According to the Eradicator, the entry of Edge and Damian Priest in her life led to her run on WWE's main roster receiving a massive boost.

Adding to her comments on the exclusive Sportskeeda Wrestling interview, Ripley talked about whether betraying Liv Morgan was a mistake. In the end, the WWE Superstar concluded that it was the right decision for her under the circumstances, even though it might have hurt her former partner, and for that she was wrong.

"Luckily for me I had Edge and Damian Priest come to me and were like, 'We see the potential in you. We want better for you.' And that's all I wanted to hear and that's all I wanted to do. So I made the decision. Was it right? Probably not. I definitely hurt her, and I will take the credit for that. But for me it was the right decision," she stated. [4:57 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen how Rhea Ripley's feud with the reigning WWE Women's World Champion Liv Morgan pans out and who manages to walk out of SummerSlam with the title on August 3.
