Rhea Ripley's feud with Liv Morgan will not end at WWE SummerSlam, says Hall of Famer (Exclusive)
Rhea Ripley's WWE return saw her immediately resume her rivalry with Liv Morgan. According to Hall of Famer Teddy Long, the feud between the two RAW Superstars will not conclude at SummerSlam 2024, as many believe.
The Eradicator and Liv Morgan have been at odds for months. In April, The Miracle Kid even injured Ripley during a backstage brawl. With the help of her devious antics, Morgan has also managed to drive a wedge between Dominik Mysterio and Mami, resulting in more conflict within The Judgment Day. The two women are set to face each other at SummerSlam with the Women's World Title on the line.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long said the Ripley-Morgan feud had much momentum, which could allow the creative team to produce a lengthy storyline. He said the company could extend the feud beyond SummerSlam.
"Why take it right there? Lot of mileage there, you know. Lot you can get out of there, you know. I agree with Bill [Apter], I don't think she's gonna drop it [the Women's World Title] either but that goes on down the line. You keep that program running, and as long as the people are behind it and it's drawing money and selling tickets, why mess it up?" Long said. [7:23 onwards]
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long previously praised Rhea Ripley
Rhea Ripley recently announced her marriage to AEW star Buddy Matthews. Since she is in an on-screen relationship with Dominik Mysterio, some old-school fans have criticized her for breaking kayfabe with her social media posts. However, Teddy Long believes that Ripley's caliber in the ring will be enough to protect her from any potential controversy.
On another episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, hosted by Mac Davis, the WWE Hall of Famer praised Mami's talent and said he hoped she would not be reprimanded by the creative team for breaking character.
"Well, I mean, I should hope not. I mean the girl's getting married, and they wanna celebrate their wedding. You know what I mean, like I tell you all the time, this is not real," Long said. "So I hope that wouldn't interfere with whatever they gotta do with her, 'cause I think Rhea Ripley is a hell of a nice girl. She's a great worker in the ring, and she has a lot of heat. So, we just have to wait to see what happens, but, you know, she's celebrating her wins, wanted people to know." [5:58 onwards]
As of now, fans will have to stay tuned to see whether Rhea Ripley can regain the Women's World Title on August 3.
